Richard Popitti, alias Rxx, was born 1953 in London. Self-taught and with many exhibitions to his credit over the last 20 years in Europe and the USA, Popitti comes from a long line of creativity. His father, Richard Lonsdale-Hands, was an accomplished painter who founded one of the world’s largest design firms and owned one of the prominent advertising agencies in post-war Britain. His aunt was also a painter and his grandparents were also architects and artists.
The artist began his career like his father, in the world of advertising. However, he left advertising for the world of finance in the mid-70s. Now after years of looking at only red and black, he is exploding with a whole spectrum of happy colours mixed with words and numbers.
Popitti has been acquired by numerous collectors across the US, UK, and Europe.
