December 15th, 2018 - January 12th, 2019
Director and cinematographer Mark Dektor began his career in the advertising industry, but changed directions to fine art photography when fueled with a desire to fulfill an unrequited dimension in his creativity. A subculture of mystique opens up to Dektor’s lens, breaking down misconceptions and allowing others to witness the intrigue of BDSM purely. Power dynamics become visible with a vulnerability not often experienced. True personalities are exposed yet maintain the same level of credence. In essence, Dektor’s work becomes a showcase of pent up emotions to finally emancipate freely, becoming a visual delight for all to behold.
Mark Dektor will debut thirty-six black-and-white photographs and a 288 pages catalogue raisonné exploring multiple subject matter from his bulging archive, which features no fewer than 5,000 digital originals, at AC Gallery and within the recently completed White Cube exhibition space inside the gallery, a space dedicated to solo and collaborative long-term projects. A panel discussion on BDSM background and culture between participants in the scene is to follow on January 11th, 2019.
This exhibition contains sexually explicit imagery and may not be suitable for minors.
