Katy Parks Wilson is a Southern California-based fine art photographer whose work has taken her around the world, but she continually returns to her favorite subject, water. Maybe it is because she spent her childhood in the Inland Empire where summer temperatures often stayed over 100 degrees for days on end. Maybe it is because she swam competitively for both high school and club teams until she was 18. Maybe it is because she is obsessed with surfers and the beach. Maybe it is where she goes to meditate — the pool — every morning at dawn. Maybe it is because water is a life force, an element. Or maybe it is because the ever-changing surfaces, edges and volume of liquid provide a continual canvas for the play of light and magic. Capturing the elusive beauty of water has been a passion for several decades, resulting in this series of photographs that explore the line between detail and abstraction, action and inaction, where everything is wet.
